We are ready for the 3rd Wave of Covid : V.K.Saraswat
NITI Aayog member Vijaya Kumar Saraswat
said that India coped with the second wave of Kovid-19 very well and hence the
number of new cases of infection has come down significantly. Along with this,
he also emphasized that preparations should also be completed to deal with the
third wave, which is expected to affect the younger population more.
Saraswat said that epidemiologists in
India have given very clear indications that a third wave of COVID-19 is
inevitable and is likely to start from September-October. So the country should
vaccinate more and more people. Saraswat said that I think we have done well to
a large extent. We coped well with the second wave of Kovid-19 and it is as a
result of that that new cases of infection are coming down significantly.
He said that with the help of our
scientific and technological activities, creating oxygen banks, setting up
industries to supply oxygen in large numbers, we have been able to deal with
the pandemic. Railways, airports, military force are being used to carry liquid
oxygen.
